Root Canal Treatment Albuquerque

Getting to the Root of the Problem

Model of decayed tooth that needs root canal treatment in Albuquerque

Root canals are not what many people make them out to be. Instead of being viewed as painful procedures, they are, in fact, the complete opposite. Root canals actually remove the source of the pain (the infection) and save teeth from possible extraction. Our team is here to ensure patients undergoing this complex procedure have a positive experience – one that is comfortable and pain-free. If you need help to address a serious toothache, call us to schedule an appointment for root canal treatment in Albuquerque.

What Happens During a Root Canal?

To start, your dentist will administer local anesthesia and sedation (if necessary). This will numb the area surrounding the tooth so that you feel no pain. A dental dam is then used to isolate the tooth so that moisture does not accumulate. A small opening is then created in the crown of the tooth so that we can access its inner chambers.

We will begin to clear out any decayed and diseased tissues as well as the canals before removing the pulp (the innermost layer of the tooth). After sanitizing the area and filling it with a biocompatible substance known as gutta-percha, we will seal the tooth from possible reinfection.

After a week or so, you will return to have your custom dental crown placed on top of the tooth for maximum protection.
